Luka Modrić selected in FIFA World 11

Croatia make final four of Nations League after win over Austria

The 7th FIFA The Best awards took place on Monday in Paris and once again Croatia captain Luka Modrić was honoured.

Modrić was named in the 2022 FIFA FIFPRO Men’s #World11 by footballers worldwide.

The 37-year-old was the oldest player named in the 11, which also featured Thibaut Courtois, Joao Canelo, Vrgil van Dijk, Achra Hakimi, Casemiro, Kevin DeBruyne, Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, Benzema and Erling Haaland.

The Best women’s player: Alexia Putellas

The Best men’s goalkeeper: Emiliano ‘Dibu’ Martinez

The Best women’s goalkeeper: Mary Earps

The Best men’s coach: Lionel Scaloni

The Best women’s coach: Sarina Wiegman

The Best Puskas award: Marcin Oleksy

The Best Fan award: Argentina fans

The Best Fair Play award: Luka Lochoshvili

Back in 2018, Modrić won The Best men’s player award after he guided Croatia to the final of the World Cup and won the UEFA Champions League in the same season.
