Luis Figo and Fine Wines in Croatia

Portugal’s former Barcelona, Real Madrid and Inter Milan star Luis Figo has arrived in Zagreb on Friday evening, and immediately got stuck into some premium Croatian wines. Figo is a guest at the 2nd Croatia Sports Conference which is being held in the Croatian capital Zagreb this weekend.

Figo, who will take part in panel discussions today on the topics of sports management, managing projects, clubs and players, spent his first few hours in the country at the Miva Wine Gallery tasting some of Croatia’s top wines. Figo, who is on his first visit to Croatia, had the chance to try some wines from well-known Croatian wine makers Željko Adžić and Tomislav Tomac.

“You have some wonderful football players. Mateo Kovačić is an enormous talent, but he has room to improve. Also Luka Modrić who is also important, not just at Real Madrid but in the world. It’s a pleasure to watch them play,” said Figo.

Some of the topics to be discussed during the conference include a regional football league, sports betting, technology in sport and the University Games in Zagreb and Rijeka in 2016. Figo was the 2000 European Footballer of the Year and the 2001 FIFA World Player of the Year.
