The young couple, originally from Sisak in Croatia but now living in Germany, had parked their car at the ferry terminal at Stinica when the father (34) reportedly left the car and forgot to pull the hand brake up, resulting in the car, together with the mother (30) and child (2) plunging into the sea.

As the car began to sink a number of people then jumped into the sea and managed to smash the car windows and rescue the baby and mother. Both were in a state of shock as they were brought to land.
