Lastovo-Korčula-Dubrovnik fast ferry to launch for first time

Lastovo

ZAGREB, 22 May 2020 – For the first time, a daily ferry connection between Dubrovnik and the island of Lastovo will be established.

At a session on Thursday, the Croatian Government made the decision to establish a new year-round high-speed line Lastovo – Korčula – Dubrovnik, Morski.hr reported.

The aim of the new line is to better connect the island of Lastovo with its county centre, Dubrovnik.

The line will operate every day with a departure in the morning from Lastovo, stopping at the island of Korčula before making its way to Dubrovnik. The ferry will return in the evening to Lastovo from Dubrovnik via Korčula.

The new line will give islanders the chance to go to Dubrovnik, do what they need to, and return the same day.

“The introduction of the new line will contribute to the improvement of the economic and tourist development of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County and will ensure a better connection of the islands of Lastovo and Korčula with Dubrovnik, as well as the interconnection of these two islands,” Morski writes.

“Funds had to be provided for this and a number of other preconditions had to be established so that this most demanding high-speed line in the entire Adriatic could be established, given the distance and location of Lastovo,” said Branko Bacic for DuList.

Funds for the high-speed line Lastovo – Korčula – Dubrovnik, as well as for the other 53 state lines, are provided in the state budget. HRK 329.5 million kuna was provided in 2020 for those lines, with projections of the required annual funds for 2021 and 2022 in the amount of HRK 340 million.
