Germans are set to realize around 70 million trips this year

The Croatian Tourist Board is showcasing its tourism offerings at the CMT (Caravan, Motor und Touristik) fair in Stuttgart, taking place from January 13 to 21, 2024.

This event, the largest of its kind in Germany, traditionally attracts more than 250,000 visitors from around the world. The Croatian Tourist Board, along with 16 Croatian co-exhibitors, is participating in a large exhibition stand with the aim of bringing various segments of Croatian tourism closer to the general public and key stakeholders in the tourism sector.

The significance of participating in the Stuttgart fair, focusing on tourism, destinations, camping, and leisure, is emphasized by Kristjan Staničić, the director of the Croatian Tourist Board. “The CMT fair attracts attention from the audience and media throughout the Baden-Württemberg region, one of the most lucrative tourism markets in Europe. This fair also serves as the venue for the traditional announcement of the initial results of the Reiseanalyse tourism market research, conducted by the FUR Institute in Kiel, considered the most authoritative research in the German market. According to the results obtained, German travel trends for this year could once again reach pre-COVID levels, while the physical volume of overall traffic could reach the level of the record year 2019,” Staničić stated.

The Reiseanalyse market research was conducted on a sample of 7,000 respondents, making it the most authoritative tourism study in the German market. This analysis provides a detailed description of German travel trends and tourism expectations in the upcoming period. The data predicts that German travelers will undertake around 70 million trips in 2024, lasting at least five days, indicating the potential for a high-quality season in the current year.

“CMT is the first tourism fair of the year in the German market and is considered the first indicator of tourism demand in Germany. The fair features around 1,600 exhibitors, and already during the past weekend, 70,000 visitors were recorded. These numbers are the best evidence that this is a renowned tourism event where the Croatian Tourist Board, along with other representatives of Croatian tourism, effectively and at a high level present the best domestic tourism practices and the rich offerings of Croatian tourism products,” stated Romeo Draghicchio, director of the Croatian Tourist Board Representation in Germany.

It is worth noting that the FUR Institute additionally emphasizes that Germany will remain the favorite destination for Germans, with Spain, Italy, Turkey, Croatia, Austria, and Greece being among the top sought-after foreign destinations. They also highlight that the majority of respondents consider their personal financial situation stable, with 54 percent planning to undertake at least one trip this year.
