John Lennon Statue to be Unveiled at Unique Zagreb Rock Park

john-lennonA statue of legendary Beatle John Lennon, which is set to be unveiled this Friday, is the next step in the project by cult club Tvornica kulture to create a rock ‘n’ roll park in the courtyard of its downtown Zagreb club…

The unique park, which Tvornica kulture says will be the first of its kind in the world, already boasts the statue of former The Clash legend Joe Strummer. The park will be home to statues of between 20 and 30 of the greatest names in rock ‘n’ roll when it is complete.

Dražen Goreta, who is in charge of the project, says that deceased legends such as Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix and the Ramones will all get statues, as will living legends such as Iggy Pop and David Bowie and some Croatian rockers. Fans will be able to have a say who goes up in the park via Facebook voting. Organisers hope that the rock ‘n’ roll park will also be a good promotion for Zagreb and Croatian tourism.
