Google Map Maker Now Available in Croatia

CroatiaGoogle today have announced that Google Map Maker, a tool that allows you to add and update geographic information for millions of users to see in Google Maps and Google Earth, is now available for users in Croatia…

Google Map Maker was launched by Google in June 2008, and was designed to expand the breadth of the service currently offered by Google Maps. Mapping data is unavailable usually because of Government restrictions on distributing data, and so to fill this void Google decided to open up Google Maps to a collaborative community effort in certain territories, with Croatia now joining the community from today. The ultimate goal of the Google Map Maker is to acquire sufficient high-quality mapping data to be published and used on the existing Google Maps service. Google Map Maker is a separate service than Maps, and changes to Google Map Maker appear on Google Maps only after sufficient review by Google moderators.

Besides Croatia, the Google Map Maker tool was presented in Slovenia, Estonia, Latvia, Greece, Slovakia, and Lithuania today.
