ZAGREB, March 25 (Hina) – France on Wednesday sent two tonnes of equipment, including tents, beds and covers, to Zagreb after it was struck by a strong earthquake on Sunday.

After an earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale hit Zagreb and its environs in the early morning hours on 22 March, Croatia activated the European Civil Protection Mechanism and France’s reaction has arrived.

A special flight arrived in Zagreb on Wednesday afternoon carrying two tonnes of equipment: tents, beds and covers, the French Embassy in Croatia said in a press release.

Ambassador Gael Veyssier welcomed the plane and presented the aid to the National Civil Protection Authority as a concrete example of France’s solidarity with Croatia during this sensitive period, the press release said.
