Along the Croatian coast, the tranquility of the Adriatic can quickly transform when strong winds sweep across the coast.

These strong ‘jugo’ and ‘bura’ gusts, particularly prevalent during certain seasons, pose significant challenges for boats navigating the Adriatic Sea.

Docking under such conditions requires not only skilled seamanship but also a keen understanding of the local maritime environment.

The strong ‘jugo’, a southeastern wind, caused problems throughout Dalmatia over the Easter weekend. Ferries struggled with the waves, and numerous routes were interrupted.

In a video from Vis, published by Dalmacija Danas, it can be seen how the ferry attempts to anchor, but the wind makes it difficult.

Check out the video showing the ferry approaching the shore, but due to the stormy south wind, it couldn’t anchor on the first attempt.
