FIFA confirms which kit Croatia must wear against Argentina in World Cup semifinal

Croatia will face Argentina on Tuesday in the semifinal of the World Cup and today FIFA confirmed which kits the sides will wear.

In all five matches so far in Qatar, Croatia has worn their famous red and white checkered home kit. However, tomorrow against Argentina they will wear their away kit for the first time.

FIFA has decided that Argentina will wear home kit.

“Our (Croatia) team will be all blue, from their shirt to their socks. Argentina will have their white and sky blue shirts and white shorts,” daily Sportske novosti wrote.

The Croatian blue away kit further reimagines the nation’s iconic checkers through the lens of nature and national pride. The away kit’s checkers feature blurred, wavy lines and utilize a color palette of Blackened Blue and Laser Blue, designed to resemble the ebbs and flows of the Adriatic Sea, which lines Croatia’s coast, was how the away kit was described when the design was presented before the tournament.

In 2018 in Russia, Croatia wore their away black and blue checkered kit in all but two matches – the opener against Nigeria and the final against France.

Croatia wore their away kit when they beat Argentina 3-0 at that tournament so fans will be hoping for the same result.

Croatia has yet to lose a match wearing their new red and white checkered home kit, which was released back in September. They wore it for the first time against Denmark in the Nations League, and in all five matches in Qatar.

They have yet to lose in the new away either, beating Austria in the Nations League when they wore it first, and then again in their 1-0 win against Saudi Arabia just before the tournament.

Italian referee Daniele Orsato will be in charge of the match tomorrow night.

Around 4,000 Croatian fans are expected at the Lusail Stadium whilst around 40,000 Argentinian fans will be there.
