A father and son from Antunovac in the eastern Croatian Osijek-Baranja County are being labeled heroes after an act of humanity this week…

Father of four Antun Dizdar and his son Kristijan came across a bag whilst driving home from Osijek. At first they thought that it was a school bag, but when they opened up the bag they were shocked to find it filled with around 300,000 kuna (40,000 euros) in cash, sib.hr reported.

With the cash inside the bag were personal documents of the owner, and Dizdar, via the internet, tracked down the owner and returned the bag.

Dizdar, whose phone has been ringing non-stop since his story made the news, has his own struggles. A war veteran who has been without employment for the past 8 years, Antun recently had an operation to remove a blot clot on his brain.

Not for one moment did it cross his mind to keep the cash.

“I am that kind of guy. I am happy I had the opportunity to return it,” said Dizdar.
