Every Croatian first-grade pupil will get a jar of Croatian honey in December as part of the promotion of honey and local beekeepers in schools.

Primary school pupils will also be taught about the importance of honey in their food during the upcoming school year during the programme.

The ‘School Day of Honey’ will be held on 7 December when all first graders will receive a 370 ml jar of local-produced honey.

In addition, the Croatian Agricultural Agency will, with the help of media, provide information for pupils and parents in order to raise the level of knowledge about the importance of healthy eating and the nutritional values of honey.

In addition, schools will organise, in cooperation with Beekeeping Associations and the Croatian Agricultural Agency, various other educational events that will give students more insight into the importance of beekeeping for overall agriculture and biodiversity on earth and will share a pictorial book of educational character as an introduction to beekeeping, Index.hr reported.
