EuroBasket: Croatia Through to Semi-Final After 18 Years

saricCroatia has made the semi-final of the European Basketball Championship (EuroBasket) for the first time in 18 years after they beat Ukraine on Thursday in Slovenia 84:72.

Croatia last tasted glory in 1995 when they won bronze, and will now face the winner of the Italy v Lithuania match for a place in the final. The other semi final will see Spain play France. The win, Croatia’s 8th on the bounce, has thrilled coach Jasmin Repesa.

“I am very happy. These guys deserved the victory and we deserve to be here. I hope the fans continue to support us how they have been, they have been a shining light. I am happy that the nation is celebrating. We will relax and watch Italy play Lithuania now and we don’t care who we play next,” said Repesa after the win which now means Croatia qualifies for the 2014 World Championships.
