Dubrovnik reaches 1 million overnight stays in record time

DUBROVNIK, 5 June 2019 – The Croatian city of Dubrovnik has achieved one million overnight stays in 2019, five days earlier than last year. 

According to the eVisitor system but excluding nautical data, Dubrovnik welcomed 393,895 tourists from 1 January until 1 June 2019. This is 30% more than in the same period last year which was a record year for tourism.

Overnight stays were up 11% from last year and totalled 1,017,365. 

The largest number of tourists this year in Dubrovnik have arrived from the UK, USA, Germany, France, Croatia, Finland, Spain, Bosnia and Herzegovina, South Korea and Canada. 

In May, a total of 158,832 tourists visited Dubrovnik, 9% more than 2018. A total of 475,161 overnight stays were recorded, up 2% from last year. Last month, most tourists arrived from the UK, USA, Germany, France, Canada, Australia, Spain, Ireland, Finland and Croatia. 

From 1 January – 31 May 2019, 273,627 tourists in Dubrovnik stayed in hotels in the city, which was growth of 36% compared to the same period last year. 83,466 tourists stayed in private accommodation since the star of the year, up 18% from last year.
