Dinamo Zagreb Sign Controversial Ghana Defender

Croatian champions Dinamo Zagreb have signed Ghana international Lee Addy from Chinese club Dalian Aerbin on loan till the end of the season.

Left-back Addy (22), who has been capped 27 times for Ghana, signed for Dalian Aerbin from Serbian club Red Star Belgrade for 2.2 million USD last year.

Before the 2010 FIFA World Cup Addy’s age had been the subject of controversy. He was registered in 2009 with a date of birth of 26.9.1985 when he debuted in 2009 for Ghana, but when he was reported in Ghana’s World Cup squad he suddenly was five years younger, registered as 7.7.1990. A Swedish newspaper contacted FIFA to investigate but a lack of evidence meant no action was taken by football’s controlling body.
