ZAGREB, 13 July 2021 – Zagreb’s award-winning cultural tourist attraction “Dvorišta – The Courtyards” is back again this summer.

From this Friday, July 16, for the next 10 days until Sunday, July 25, visitors can have a peek behind the facades of some of the most beautiful palaces in Zagreb’s Upper Town and experience a new, seventh edition of the event.

“Dvorišta – The Courtyards” was declared “by far the best experience in Zagreb” by one of the the largest South Korean portals, whilst BBC TRAVEL dedicated an entire show to it.  It also won two prestigious awards for the most creative and innovative project in Croatian tourism.

Unfortunately, Zagreb’s Upper Town was significantly damaged in the devastating earthquake, which is why the event, along with the pandemic, was not held last year. However, despite this situation and the limited number of available courtyards, this year’s “Dvorišta – The Courtyards” wants to send a message of optimism – that the Upper Town is still a living space where life, despite everything, has not stopped.

This year’s “Dvorišta – The Courtyards”, therefore, symbolically open their doors in three currently available locations: in the well-known courtyard of the Balbi Palace at Demetrova 11, and in two locations which premiered at the last “Dvorišta – The Courtyards” in 2019 – in the front atrium and backyard Narodni dom HAZU at the addresses Opatička 18 and Dvoranski prečac 1.

Every day from 6 pm – 12 pm to 24 hours during the 10-days, visitors will have the opportunity to peek behind the facades of the upper city palaces and enjoy at least part of their unique beauty.

During the event, visitors have had the chance to see behind the gates of some of Croatia’s most spectacular palaces. As well as having a first-hand look around these impressive parts of Zagreb history, visitors are entertained with music, food and entertainment in the courtyards.
