African champions Mali have ended Croatia’s hopes at the FIFA U-17 World Cup on Sunday in Chile…

Mali, who have been unbeaten and only conceded one goal so far in the tournament, scored the only the goal of the game in the the 20th minute through Koita. Mali fully deserved their victory with Croatia’s excellent goal keeper Adrian Semper keeping his side in the game with a number of excellent saves.

Although Croatia had their fair share of possession, they failed to create any real chances on goal in the match, although once again left winger Josip Brekalo was a handful for the Mali defence. Back to back wins against world champions Nigeria and European runners up Germany proved Croatia had the goods to go far at the tournament, but they came up against a well organised Mali side on Sunday.

Mali will meet either Belgium or Costa Rica in the semi-final, whilst Nigeria booked a semi-final place tonight with a 3-0 win over Brazil.
