Croatia’s Filip Zubčić ends season as world’s 5th best skier

Croatian skier Filip Zubčić has ended the 2021 season as the 5th best skier alpine in the world. 

Zubčić finished 13th on Sunday in the last World Cup giant slalom of the season in Lenzerheide, Switzerland, after finishing second on Saturday to end the season 5th overall in the Crystal Globe.

Alexis Pintaurault of France won on Saturday and finished third today to secure the Crystal Globe with 1,260 points. Marco Odermatt of Switzerland was second with 1,093 points and Marco Schwarz of Austria was third with 814 points.

Zubčić finished fifth in the overall ranking with 764 points in what has been his most successful season of his career. Last year he finished 14th overall. 

The Croatian also finished the year as the third best giant slalom skier in the world with two victories and a total of six podium finishes. 

In addition, the 28-year-old also ended 24th in the slalom rankings, which is also his best placement of his career.
