19 September 2019 – Zagreb architectonic studio Dva arhitekta has won the prestigious American Architecture MasterPrize 2019 for their winery project in Slavonia.

Dva arhitekta beat the best projects from 65 countries to win the award in the Industrial Buildings category for their Galić winery design.

The project team was led by architects Zoran Zidarić and Tomislav Ćurković and included the design team of Maja Maroši Pezo, Mario Pervić and Dejan Šeparovec.

“Galić winery is located in Kutjevo centre which is why we wanted it to be experienced as a city house. A clear architectonic design derives from the intent the house fits into the city structure and yet remains contemporary. Initial inspiration comes from the traditional wine cellar. The winery is divided; the base is in concrete vaults which open and hide the space for wine ageing in barrels. The barrels are placed into a street window, to make contact and invite passers-by. the concrete base comprises wine degustation facilities. The upper part is in brick:”
