Popular in Croatia’s Dalmatian region, sugared almond sweets are often served up at celebrations.
Sugared almonds have been a sweet-treat favourite in Dalmatia for a long time, and are often served up as a little snack when enjoying a drink or two. They are even sold in little packets as souvenirs.

Almonds – 100 g
Sugar – 100 g
Bourbon Vanilla Sugar – small pack
Water – 1 tablespoon
1. Put all the ingredients in a pot place on a medium to low heat. Let the sugar melt and the water to evaporate.
2. Keep stirring the liquid and cooking on the same heat for around 15 minutes. The sugar will return to a solid state so stir quicker so that each almond gets coated as much as possible.
3. Once caramelized and you hear the almonds starting to pop take off heat. Place on baking paper and let cool.
