Croatian Female Entrepreneur of the Year Named

Today is World Women’s Entrepreneurship Day, and to mark the occasion Women in Adria, who are part of the Croatian Chamber of Commerce, have announced Croatia’s Female Entrepreneur of the Year.

This year the title goes to Katica Hauptfeld and Elizabeta Planinić (pictured).

Hauptfeld is the owner of tourist agency Katarina line and won the award in the category ‘Most Inspired Entrepreneur of the Year. Katica has been operating in the Opatija area for over 20 years and 27 of her 35 staff members are female.

Planinić, who owns two businesses, travel agency Putuj and a grave maintainance service, which was the first of its kind in Croatia, won the ‘Mikro Entrepreneur of the Year award’.

As well as 19,972 companies owned in Croatia outright by women, 12,144 more are co-owned by women. Statistics show that from 2010-2014 the amount of women owning businesses has grown by 17.3% in Croatia.

The largest amount of female entrepreneurs are in the Bjelovar-Bilogora County, followed by Zagreb.
