Croatia Wins ‘Best Family Destination’ at 2015 National Geographic Traveler Awards in Moscow

Croatia has been voted the ‘Best Family Destination’ at the 5th National Geographic Traveler Awards – Top Travel Destinations of 2015 – at a ceremony held in Moscow this week…

The awards, now in their 5th year, are organised by the Russian branch of the National Geographic Traveler magazine. Readers were asked to cast their votes in 12 different categories over the last 6 months. Over 240,000 online votes were cast.

Croatia was voted by readers as the ‘Best Destination for a Family Vacation’ on the Russian market.

Other category winners included Ethiopia – best exotic destination, New Zealand – best adventure destination, Switzerland – best skiing destination, and Azerbaijan – best new discovery.

The award is great recognition for Croatia on the Russian market, taking into account that this summer saw a decline in the number of tourists visiting from there after visa restrictions were introduced.

Croatian Tourist Board representative Rajko Ružička said accepting the award in Moscow at the award ceremony this week, that the award is proof that Croatia was still an attractive and quality destination for Russians despite the drop in visitors this year.
