In the midst of Croatia’s peak tourist season, with over a million tourists currently exploring the country daily, weekends witness the highest traffic congestion due to the influx of vacationers.

To make the wait more bearable for numerous tourists stuck in cars during scorching summer days, the Croatian Tourist Board has once again organised a thoughtful gesture. This year, they are distributing non-carbonated natural mineral water to tourists, adorned with the warm message “Welcome to Croatia.”

Today,  the initiative took place at toll stations Rupa, Lučko, and Bregana, as well as at ferry ports in Split, Hvar (Stari Grad), and Brač (Supetar). Joining the water distribution at the Rupa toll station was Kristjan Staničić, the director of the Croatian Tourist Board.

“This year holds great significance for Croatian tourism as our country becomes a part of the Schengen Area, making Croatian destinations even more accessible, closer in terms of transportation, and more competitive in various European markets. It is our collective responsibility to maximise the comfort of our guests, who have placed their trust in us by choosing Croatia for their vacation. We must express our gratitude symbolically and strive to deliver kindness, hospitality, and top-notch service, which will entice them to return,” stated Director Staničić.

The bottles of non-carbonated natural mineral water come with a welcome message and a QR code on the label. Scanning the QR code leads visitors to Croatia.hr, a website providing all the useful information about Croatian destinations and the country’s overall tourism offerings.

Notably, this water distribution campaign is in partnership with Jamnica. On August 12th, the initiative will be repeated, anticipating another large influx of tourists. A total of 80,000 bottles of water will be distributed during these two days, contributing to a more enjoyable and refreshed experience for visitors exploring the beauty of Croatia.
