ZAGREB, 22 Aug (Hina) – SV Golden Horizon, a steel-hulled five-masted barque rigged tall ship, is expected to serve as a platform for the promotion of Croatia’s economy, sports and heritage in Doha, during the Men’s FIFA World Football Championships in Qatar, the Večernji List daily reported on Sunday.

This biggest saiboat, built by the Split-based Brodosplit dock, is to be moored in Doha Bay during the 20 November – 18 December championships and will also be repurposed into a six-star hotel to accommodate 300 people, the Zagreb-based daily says.

The daily newspaper quoted the Croatian Football Federation (HNS) president Marijan Kustić as saying that the HNS federation is following and supporting all the plans and efforts to implement this “Croatian House” project involving the 162-metre long vessel and promotion of Croatia’s culture in Qatar during the championships.

More information about this project will be known in ten days.

The project is being carried out in cooperation with the Croatian Business Council in Qatar, a non-profit organisation which aims to promote business, economic, trade and cultural ties between Croatia and Qatar, according to the article signed by journalist Karlo Ledinski.
