Croatia holds spot on latest FIFA rankings 

ZAGREB, 21 September 2023 – Croatia is ranked sixth in the world in the latest FIFA rankings, which were released on Thursday.

Croatia keeps its spot just outside the top 5 after beating Latvia and Armenia in September.

At the top of the rankings are world champions Argentina, and the order of the remaining top five teams remains are unchanged after the qualification matches for Euro 2024 and the 2026 World Cup were played in early September.

France is in second place, followed by Brazil, England, and Belgium. 

The only change among the top ten is Italy dropping to the ninth position, while Portugal has moved up to the eighth.

Among Croatia’s opponents in the Euro qualifications, Wales is the highest-ranked, having advanced two places compared to the previous ranking in July and now standing as the 33rd team in the world. Turkey, against which Croatia will play a qualification match on October 12th, has dropped from the 41st to the 42nd position. 

Armenia has fallen from 90th to 91st place, and Latvia from 134th to 136th.
