ZAGREB, July 31 (Hina) – Croatia Airlines (CA) company incurred losses of HRK 173.2 million in the first half of 2020 as against a loss of 84.5 million in the corresponding period in 2019, this state-owned national flag carrier reported on Friday.

Higher losses were a consequence of the coronavirus pandemic that hit the air transport industry worldwide.

In H1 2020, CA conducted 5,661 flights, down 57% compared to the same period in 2019. The number of passengers transported on CA flights fell down by 66%, which is by 630,000, to 330,9435 passengers.

Currently, Croatia Airlines is providing services connecting Zagreb and 14 European destinations as well as five airports in Croatia.

During the COVID-related lockdown, the company helped in the repatriation of 23,000 Croatians, and also made their planes available to the government for the transport of medical humanitarian assistance.
