Croatia Airlines will introduce an in-flight internet service via Wi-Fi in June of this year, the nation’s national airline has announced.

This service will be available only on the 15 aircraft of the new Airbus 220 fleet, which are expected to arrive at Croatia Airlines by 2027.

The first aircraft is set to land in Zagreb in June of this year.

As daily Jutarnji list reported, to provide passengers with this service, the management of Croatia Airlines has signed a contract with Panasonic Avionics.

Each of the 15 aircraft will be equipped with a Ku-band antenna, connecting them to the global communication network of Panasonic Avionics satellites.

Croatia Airlines claims that this will enable their passengers to use fast Wi-Fi during the flight, allowing them to work, surf the internet, or communicate with whomever they wish.

Additionally, every seat in the new A220 aircraft fleet will have USB-A and USB-C ports, along with convenient holders for smartphones and tablets. However, it is still uncertain whether passengers will be able to make voice calls during the flight.

Croatia Airlines told Jutarnji list that the service will enable internet connectivity and the use of applications that require an internet connection to function (such as WhatsApp, Viber, etc.), with all details to be provided upon the arrival of the aircraft and the completion of final testing, which is customary when introducing such services.

However, the use of Wi-Fi connectivity will not be free. As the daily reports, Croatia Airlines will introduce several service packages for its passengers and charge accordingly. The specifics of these packages are yet to be disclosed.
