ZAGREB, 19 Dec (Hina) – The Central State Office for Croats Abroad has decided to allocate to students of Croatian descent living outside Croatia the same number of scholarships for the current academic year as the previous year, 2,000 in total, with the same monthly amount of €175.
The Office has announced a public call, which will remain open for the next month, until 16 January 2026.
Applications are open to students of Croatian origin living abroad who are enrolled as full-time students at higher education institutions in Croatia and at public universities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Kosovo.
Of the planned 2,000 scholarships, 300 are intended for recipients who arrive in Croatia for higher education and 200 of them will be given for Croats from Bosnia and Herzegovina, 60 for members of the ethnic Croatian minority (in European countries) and 40 for members of the Croatian diaspora attending tertiary education in Croatia.
Furthermore, 1,500 scholarships are made available for eligible undergraduates in Bosnia and Herzegovina, 30 in Montenegro, five in Kosovo, 15 for eligible students in North Macedonia and 150 scholarships in Serbia.
The scholarships are awarded for one academic year, i.e., for a period of 10 months, with a monthly amount of €175, which amounts to €1,750 per student.
The criteria for awarding scholarships are academic performance and the social and financial circumstances of the student.
When the number of planned scholarships is multiplied by the amount, it is clear that Croatia will allocate €3.5 million for them again this year.
