KORČULA, 5 December 2023 – The opening of Camino Korčula, a new pilgrimage route located on the beautiful Adriatic island, was marked on the first weekend of December.

This unique trail attracted participants not only from Croatia but also from Bosnia and Herzegovina, France, and Portugal, creating an international atmosphere of unity. More than a hundred enthusiastic individuals walked through picturesque sections of Camino Korčula over three days, exploring the rich cultural and natural heritage of the island.

The event also included a chance for participants to socialise, and there were also communal prayers, inspirational speeches, holy masses, and the solemn blessing of St. James.

The culmination of the pilgrimage took place in the church in Vela Luka, where Father Hrvoje Katušić, along with Marija Pražen from the Confraternity of St. James Croatia, ceremoniously awarded Compostelas – certificates confirming the successful completion of the pilgrimage. This moment marked not only the physical but also the spiritual journey that the participants undertook.
