AC Milan sign Croatian international Ante Rebic

MILAN, 2 September 2019 – Croatian international Ante Rebic has signed for Italian club AC Milan, the club confirmed on Monday. 

Rebic has left Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt to join AC Milan on a two-year-loan deal at a cost of €5m with €20m option to buy, a La Gazzetta dello Sport journalist revealed.

Rebic makes a return to Serie A, having first played for Fiorentina after a a €4.5m move from Split in August 2013. Rebic was then loaned out by Fiorentina to Hellas Verona before moving to Eintracht on a temporary basis in 2016. His loan to Eintracht was made permanent in 2018. 

Rebic, who was a standout for Croatia at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, scoring against Argentina, scored 17 goals during his time in the Bundesliga.

The 25-year-old, who is the first Croatian signing at the club since former Croatia captain Zvonimir Boban took on the role as the club’s director of sport, is the 9th Croatian to play for the club after; Boban, Daria Smoje, Darijo Simic, Drazen Brncic, Mario Pasalic, Alen Halilovic, Nikola Kalinic and Ivan Strinic.

Rebic has 28 caps for his country, and has scored three goals.
