Wind organ set to be new Croatian tourist attraction

26 October 2019 – The unique sea organ in Zadar, which plays music by way of sea waves and tubes located underneath a set of large marble steps, is one of the major attractions on the coast. Now Croatia is set to get another similar attraction next year.
The first wind organ is currently being built on Trovro mountain above the village of Rogotin, which located between Ploce and Metkovic. When works are complete, and the wind starts blowing, chords from the wind organ will be heard.
The unique project is designed by local engineer Zeljko Skoric, who says the principle of the wind organ is the same as that of all other organs.

“Three pairs of seven instruments play where we have on each a different length of pipe, on which the tonality of the organs themselves depends”, Skorić told HRT.
“As for the power of the organ and the sound it will produce, this is one special experience that no one has encountered yet, at least as far as we know. So it is unknown to us and the contractor,” Ante Sunjic says.

Locals hope that the wind organ will boost tourism in Rogotin and are not worried about the noise the wind organ may make at night.
“I will sleep easy, you get used to it. People got used to trains and buses there, why would they not get used to an organ,” Jure Sunjic from Rogotin added.

The wind organ, which is set to be complete in a few months, costs 3 million kuna to build and is being 80% financed by EU funds.
