Zagreb Zoo, located in Maksimir Park in the Croatian capital, celebrates its 92nd Birthday this weekend.

The 7-hectare zoo, which is a member of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums and is a participant in the European Endangered Species Programme, first opened its doors in June 1925. Reconstruction of the old zoo began in 1990.

On Saturday 10 June 2017, the Zagreb Zoo will celebrate its 92nd birthday and the first birthday of its baby lions Tuma and Uzuri with a full educational programme. The lion’s den will be turned into a small education centre where visitors will learn more.
