The Portuguese city of Porto claimed number one spot ahead of Zagreb in the competition which featured 18 of Europe’s top cities, including Amsterdam, Vienna, Berlin, Barcelona, Bergen, Budapest, Cannes, Glasgow, Nicosia, London, Madeira, Madrid, Milan, Porto, Paris, Prague, Rome, Stockholm and Geneva.
Zagreb Tourist Board says they are extremely pleased with this success, which shows that not only the profession, but also the general public recognises and appreciates the qualities of Zagreb as a city, and considers the result to be a special recognition for the hard and professional work in the promotion of Zagreb as a tourist and convention destination. Zagreb continues to enjoy tourist growth, with 6% more arrivals in January compared to the same period last year. Of the total number of visitors (33,5480), 21,224 were foreigners, representing an increase of 4%. Most tourists in January came from Italy, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Germany.
