2017 Water Polo World Championship: Croatia into Quarterfinals

The Croatian water polo team have advanced through to the quarterfinal of the 2017 Water Polo World Championships in Budapest on Friday with a convincing victory over Japan.

The Croatians followed up victories over USA and Russia this week with a 16:6 (5:1, 5:3, 4:1, 2:1) trouncing of Japan to finish at the top of Group D.

CROATIA: Bijač, Marcelić, Macan, Fatović 3, Lončar 3, Joković 3, Buljubašić 1, Vukičević 1, Bušlje 1, Sandro Sukno 3, Krapić, Šetka, Javier Garcia 1.

JAPAN: Tanamura, Fukushima, Adachi, Kawamoto, Shiga, Yoshida 1, Iida 1, Shimizu, Takata, Arai 2, Inaba 1, Okawa 1, Araki.

The victory secures a quarterfinal spot for Croatia at the 2017 FINA World Championships which will be played on 25 July. The Croatians will have to wait to learn their opponents after Sunday’s matches.

The final will be played on 29 July.
