372 cats from 17 European countries competing for prestigious recognition

Cats have long held the status of family members as household pets, and some, depending on their pedigree, often travel the world with their owners, leading a truly “sweet life.”

Fuelled by the great interest of cat enthusiasts, the Felis Croatia Cat Lovers Club, in collaboration with the Karlovac Tourist Board, the City of Karlovac, and Zorin’s House, is organizing the WCF World Cat Show on September 23rd and 24th, from 10 am to 6 pm, at the Economic-Tourist School, Kurelčeva 2 in Karlovac.

After hosting seven international exhibitions, this marks the enthusiastic Felis Croatia team’s first WCF World competition. Visitors will have the opportunity to see a total of 17 world champion cats and 4 world premieres.

Rarely seen breeds such as the Kurilian Bobtail, Transylvanian Cat, Bombay Cat, Munchkin, Cornish Rex, and many others will also be featured. Under the watchful eyes of ten international judges, the best cats will be selected, accompanied by an exciting program and plenty of attractions for visitors.

As part of the exhibition, on Friday, September 22, 2023, at 8:00 pm, a seminar will be held by one of the leading geneticists in the world of cats, Leslie A. Lyons, on the topic of “Extremes in Breeding,” priced at 35 EUR for all judges, breeders, and other interested individuals, regardless of their association.

In addition to working with pedigree cats, the Felis Croatia Association also supports the care and well-being of abandoned cats. Therefore, visitors to the Karlovac exhibition will also be able to visit the Kitten Safe House booth, which annually shelters and rehomes hundreds of cats and kittens. Alongside the booth and donation collection for the association, they will exhibit once-abandoned but now well-cared-for kittens, some of which will even participate in competitions.

Visitors will have the opportunity to converse with breeders and other cat experts to learn more about their behavior, care, and habits.

Besides the cats, who are undoubtedly the stars of this exhibition, an attractive program is prepared for visitors: the selection of the most beautiful kitten, the most beautiful neutered cat, and the most beautiful adult cat. Those considering adopting an abandoned cat can talk to representatives of the Cat Protection Association and take home brochures with advice on choosing a breeder, breed, or adopting a kitten, as well as information on proper nutrition and care for these furry companions.

The most exciting part of the exhibition is undoubtedly the Best in Show, where winners are chosen from among the most beautiful cats of the exhibition, both days starting at 4:30 pm.

Visitors will also have access to a veterinary advisory service, the sale of cat toys and equipment, and one special attraction. Multi-award-winning and renowned photographer Gordana Popović from Pet Almighty Photography, who recently won 3 awards for cat photos, will set up a photo studio, providing an opportunity to capture memories and take a photo with your four-legged companion.
