From August 30th to September 15th, the highlight of the summer festival season awaits you on the Pelješac Peninsula, with its epicenter in Ston.
Pelješac, August 24, 2023 – The end of summer is always reserved for Pelješac and the Salt Festival, which breathes life into the entire peninsula, encompassing all four municipalities: Janjina, Trpanj, Orebić, and Ston, proudly preserving Europe’s oldest saltworks, dating back to the time of the Dubrovnik Republic.
For over 15 days, there will be top-notch food, exquisite Pelješac wines, numerous musical and cultural events, from August 30th to September 15th this year, delighting the residents of Pelješac and their guests, showcasing that the Indian summer is at its most beautiful in southern Dalmatia.
Around fifty Pelješac taverns, restaurants, and wineries will offer select dishes and wines at festival prices, and there will be affordable boat trips for shellfish tasting in the Malostonsko Bay.
Ston presents an even more attractive program
During the festival, Ston hosts art workshops, a traditional art colony, an eco-market with traditional products, exhibitions, guided tours of the saltworks, culinary workshops, and an integral part of the Salt Festival 2023 program is the captivating salt extraction.
The main part of the program takes place in the center of Ston from August 30th to September 2nd.
This year, expect fantastic concerts: on Thursday, August 31st – the Wine, Salt & Jazz Night at the Ston Saltworks, on Friday, September 1st, Đani Stipaničev will entertain visitors at the Kaštio fortress, while on September 2nd, Ston will host the 3F GIN event – a DJ party featuring local gin producers.
“The Salt Festival in the post-season attracts a large number of visitors, affirming the entire tourist offer of Pelješac, from accommodation to traditional products. Building on this festival that has been organized for seven years now, all four Pelješac tourist communities – Orebić, Trpanj, Janjina, and Ston – have been creating an attractive festival season for the past three years. We have created and are expanding a beautiful shared story that begins in the pre-season and ends with the Salt Festival in the post-season, confirming that it is possible to attract guests to Pelješac beyond the peak season,” said Fani Slade, the director of the Ston Municipality Tourist Board.
