Construction of the Wellovar geothermal sports and recreation park in Bjelovar is progressing steadily, with the project shaping up to become the most modern thermal pool complex in Croatia.
Unlike any existing thermal facility in the country, Wellovar has been designed as a vision of the future, built around innovation, renewable energy and full self-sustainability.
All of the energy used within the complex will be generated from its own sources, making it a model for environmentally responsible development.
Once completed, the complex will feature seven pools, including an Olympic-sized swimming pool, with a total water surface area of approximately 3,600 square metres.
Both indoor and outdoor pools are part of the project, offering year-round use for sport, recreation and leisure.

The indoor pools have already been constructed, while work is currently under way on the outdoor pools and installation systems, Grad Bjelovar said in its update on the project.
Part of the main building is already under the roof, with the remaining sections expected to be covered by the end of January, when interior works will begin.

Mayor of Bjelovar, Dario Hrebak, and the Director of Terme Bjelovar, Zvonimir Žarec, emphasised the scale and complexity of the project. A total of 12,400 square metres of ceramic tiling will be installed across the site, with around 7,000 square metres dedicated to the pools alone.

Wellovar is set to become the most technologically advanced thermal complex in Croatia, operating as a fully self-sustaining facility powered by its own renewable energy sources.

Currently, around 150 workers are active on the construction site. From January, the workforce is expected to increase by a further 100 workers to accelerate the pace of construction.
The project is scheduled for completion next summer, when Wellovar will officially open its doors to the public.
