Vukovar to Dubrovnik ultra-marathon takes place

ZAGREB, Aug 11 (Hina) – Thirty cyclists from Croatia on Friday afternoon arrived in Dubrovnik, which was the final destination of their 1,000-kilometre-long 10th memorial ultra-marathon called “Ovcara-Knin-Dubrovnik”.

The start was on 2 August at Ovcara in Vukovar from where the participants in the event embarked on this cycling tour organised to celebrate Victory and Homeland Thanksgiving Day and Veterans Day and the 24th anniversary of Operation Storm.

Upon arriving in Dubrovnik, one of the participants said that in this way the cyclists celebrated the greatest holiday of their homeland.

Of those 30 participants, three were women-cyclists, the oldest cyclist was a 73-year-old war veteran and the youngest participant was 14 year old.

During the seven-day tour, the cyclists passed through Vukovar, Vinkovci, Slavonski Brod, Okucani, Sisak, Glina, Petrinja, Vojnic, Slunj, Lovinac, Sv. Rok, Gracac, Kasic, Zadar, Sibenik, Knin, Sinj and Ploce.
