VIDEO: Roko to represent Croatia at Eurovision 2019 in Tel Aviv

17 February 2019 – 18-year-old Roko Blažević will represent Croatia at at Eurovision 2019 in Tel Aviv, Israel with his song ‘The Dream’ after it won the Dora 2019 competition on Saturday night in Opatija. 

The Dora music festival was used to select Croatia’s Eurovision representative from 1993 until 2011 before Croatian Radiotelevision (HRT) took over the process. Dora returned this year with Roko Blažević beating 15 other contestants after a jury and public vote. 

Roko’s song ‘The Dream’ was written by Croatia’s 2017 Eurovision representative Jacques Houdek.

The song won with 12 points from the public. ‘Tower of Babylon’ by Lorena Bućan received the next highest, whilst in third place with 8 points was ‘All I really want’ by Elis Lovrić. 

Croatia has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 24 times since making its debut at the 1993 contest. Croatia’s best result in the contest is fourth-place finishes in 1996 (Maja Blagdan) and 1999 (Doris Dragović). 

Last year, Franka Batelić represented Croatia in Lisbon, Portugal with her song ‘Crazy’. She finished in 17th place in the semi-final. 

Roko is from Split and was mentored by Houdek in the talent show ‘Zvijezde’. Check out Croatia’s Eurovision 2019 entry below.
