Podgora gets underwater live cam, second on Croatia's Adriatic Sea

Podgora

After Martinska near Šibenik, Podgora on the Makarska Riviera has become the second location on the Adriatic with the installation of an underwater camera that transmits real-time footage from the seabed live on YouTube.

The underwater camera is located at a depth of 8 meters. In the evening, between 5pm – 12pm EST, the location is illuminated by a spotlight. The footage is streamed on the Croatia Live panorama view channel.

The project is sponsored by the Podgora Tourist Board, Split-Dalmatia County and portal Gorgonija.

Since 2018, the first underwater camera in Martinska has recorded a large number of different fish species, among them those endangered and protected and the same is expected at the new site in Podgora.

Apart from YouTube, the footage is also available on other partner sites and will also be given to the Institute for Marine and Environmental Research of the Ruđer Bošković Institute, which will use the recordings for scientific purposes in terms of protecting the Adriatic and better understanding of the life of its submarine, Morski.hr said.
