19 January 2019 – Former international and current assistant coach of the Croatian team, Ivica Olić, has scored a rare double nutmeg goal during an exhibition tournament in Tbilisi, Georgia.
Olić, who retired after 104 caps for Croatia in 2015, was playing in an exhibition tournament featuring retired stars when he netted something not often seen on the football field.
Olić managed to put the ball through two sets of legs before it found its way into the goal.
Six teams – Georgia, Turkey, FIFA, Spain, Ukraine and UEFA – took part in the tournament with Olić and fellow former Croatian international Dario Šimić, Stipe Pletikosa and Ivan Klasnić playing for the FIFA team which included Marco Materazzi, Nuno Gomes and other ex-stars.
Named the Croatian Footballer of the Year in 2009 and 2010, Olić appeared with Bayern Munich in two UEFA Champions League finals in 2010 and 2012. He played for Croatia at three FIFA World Cups in 2002, 2006, 2014. He scored 20 goals for Croatia and is now Zlatko Dalić’s assistant coach.
