The Most Valuable Player of Eurobasket 2017, Goran Dragic from the championship-winning Slovenian team, shed tears today after receiving an unexpected gift.
The Miami Heat star, who guided Slovenia to their first ever European title on Sunday scoring 35 points in the final, received a special present from the mother of his idol, Croatian legend Drazen Petrovic.
Biserka Petrovic gifted Dragic one of Drazen’s jerseys he wore when he played for the New Jersey Nets in the NBA.
It was an emotional moment for the 31-year-old, who shared the same No.3 as Petrovic.
“This is one of the nicest gifts I have ever received. Drazen was my idol. Thank you so much, Biserka. It was an honour to wear the No.3 jersey and do the legend of world basketball proud. Rest in Peace,” said a tearful Dragic.
