VIDEO: Emotive remake of Oliver hit as Zagreb philharmonic orchestra & choir team up

Dva put san umra (Tonči Huljić & Madre Badessa band)

22 February 2019 – An emotive remake of a hit by the late Oliver Dragojević by Croatian musician, songwriter and producer Tonči Huljić has premiered this week.

Huljić originally wrote the popular Oliver hit ‘Dva put san umra’ in 1995, and has paid tribute to the late great with a unique and emotive remake of the song.

The latest version of the song features the Zagreb philharmonic orchestra, academic choir ‘Ivan Goran Kovačić’ and Huljić’s Madre Badessa band.

“This is a new reading of the song. Nobody will ever sing it in the way Oliver sung it, but as author of the song I decided to show the public how this song can sound in an instrumental version with an orchestra and choir,” Huljić said.

The text was written by Vjekoslava Huljić whilst Hana Huljić wrote the music for the orchestra.

Oliver, who enjoyed a career spanning four decades and was considered one of the most iconic music stars in Croatia and in the Croatian diaspora around the world, passed away last July at the age of 70.

The remake has been particularly well received since it premiered during the week.
