VIDEO: Croatian Aljoša Asanović unveiled as Zambia national team coach

Former Croatia international and 1998 World Cup bronze medal winner Aljoša Asanović (55) has been unveiled as coach of Zambia.

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has signed the Croatian on a four-year contract.

“I am happy to have become the coach of Zambia because this is a country that has great footballers. There is no excuse for my team not to qualify for the next African Cup of Nations in 2023,” Asanović said at his unveiling today.

The last time Zambia qualified for the African Cup of Nations was back in 2015.

In his last role, Asanović was the Croatian Football Federation’s instructor for the diaspora.

Asanovic’s career saw him play in Croatia, France, Italy and England, enjoying spells at Hajduk Split, Montpellier, Napoli, Panathinaikos, and Derby County. He won 62 caps for his country before moving into coaching.
