31 December 2018 – Michelin-starred Šibenik restaurant Pelegrini has been declared the best restaurant in Croatia in 2018, according to a list of the top 10 compiled by leading Croatian food and wine portal Plava Kamenica

Pelegrini, which last week received its Michelin star plaque, took out top honours with 174 points.

Plava Kamenica critiqued restaurants across the country with Rovinj restaurant Monte, also a holder of a Michelin star, named in second place with 1360 points.

Croatia’s only other restaurant with a Michelin star, 360 in Dubrovnik, was third.

“We have been eating at Pelegrini for the last four or five years and the food has never been better as in 2018. The local eel, which we tried during the winter is an exemplary example of high local cuisine, while the lobster was needed to let Pelegrini step into the world of luxury ingredients without which there is no real fine dining,” Plava Kamenica says.

Three restaurants from Zagreb made the top 10, Noel, Carpaccio and Tekka and Zinfandel’s, whilst the only Croatian island restaurant in the top 10 was Laganini on Hvar where U2 frontman Bono enjoys to dine.
