ZAGREB, 24 November 2020 – The Garden Brewery in Zagreb has been named the best brewery in the EU for the second year in a row by the world’s most popular beer club.

The Garden Brewery was voted the best brewery in the European Union in the 2020 Beer52 Awards. The Zagreb brewery won the same award last year.

Beer52 Awards crowns the best breweries from the UK and abroad. This year’s winners were chosen using 2.2 million data points and reviews from members over the past 12 months on 208 different beers from 116 breweries around the world.

In addition to the main award, The Garden Brewery also won the award for the best low-alcohol beer, and Garden’s Micro IPA was voted the best in that category.

Beer 52 was founded in 2013 and is the world’s most popular beer club in the UK with over 200,000 people subscribing to get a box of craft beers delivered to their door every month.

What the judges said: “The Garden has become a regular fixture in Beer52 boxes since it first appeared in our Down the Danube box, and with good reason. Moreish, exceptionally drinkable, yet sophisticated and often surprising, Garden’s approach epitomises so many of the trends in European craft brewing just now. We’re constantly impressed by its innovation and quality, and member reviews confirm you guys feel the same way. In awarding Garden this year’s EU Champion gold award, we’ve decided to single out its exceptional Micro IPA; a 2.9% brew that somehow manages to pack in a massive body and multi-faceted hop character, with grapefruit zest, peach and mango. It’s a master class in technical brewing, that also happens to be 330ml of pure fun.”
