Zagreb, April 16, 2024 – The Cult has announced the 8424 Tour, marking 40 years of their career, with performances throughout Europe, including in Croatia.

The Cult will perform on the Summer Stage in Opatija on Thursday, July 25th.

Throughout this extensive series of concerts, the group will perform all of their greatest hits from their 11 studio albums, including “She Sells Sanctuary,” “Rain,” “Fire Woman,” “Lil’ Devil,” and many more.

The Cult holds a prominent place in music history due to their pioneering use of post-punk, hard rock, and experimentation, pushing boundaries and influencing numerous bands across different genres.

With their musical skill, unwavering attitude, and captivating stage presence, they’ve created a distinct identity while exploring new territories for bands.

From Billy Duffy’s formative and influential years in the Manchester underground scene to Ian Astbury’s revolutionary “Gathering of the Tribes,” this duo has left an indelible mark on contemporary music, shaping its course in various profound ways.

The Cult was formed in England in 1984. This seminal post-punk band, in their four-decade-long career, has sold millions of albums and earned numerous international and American gold and platinum records. Ian Astbury (vocals) and Billy Duffy (guitar) have released 11 studio albums throughout The Cult’s career.

Dubbed the “shamanic Goths,” the band gained international fame with the 1985 album “Love,” featuring the rock anthem “She Sells Sanctuary,” as well as the equally successful follow-up, “Rain.” The release of “Electric” came in 1989, with critical reviews stating that the collection of songs (particularly “Love Removal Machine,” “Wild Flower,” and “Lil’ Devil”) was “confident, muscular, and howling.” The Cult’s latest work is “Under the Midnight Sun.”

A review of the eight-song album succinctly stated, “the indefatigable melodramatic rockers still have fire in their eyes.” In late 2023, Astbury and Duffy reformed Death Cult for a series of concert performances, including one American date at The Theatre at The Ace Hotel and a limited number of British dates, including sold-out shows at Brixton Electric.

During the early months of 2024, the band appeared on The Howard Stern Show and began a series of reissues of their acclaimed albums on vinyl.

The 8424 tour includes a series of 29 concerts starting on July 11th in Seville. The group will visit Spain, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Ireland, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Poland, Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands, Denmark, the United Kingdom, and Croatia.
