Split’s Marjan Hill Gets 10-Metre Cross

A giant cross on the highest peak of Marjan hill in the Dalmatian city of Split will be officially unveiled today. The size of the cross however is considerably smaller than what was initially mooted, when Split Mayor Zeljko Kerum announced that it would be even bigger than the 37 meter tall statue of Jesus in Rio de Janeiro.

The 10-meter tall cross was erected on Saturday, just one day before local elections. The cross is visible from most parts of the downtown waterfront.
