Smallest loggerhead sea turtle in the Adriatic found near Korčula island

The smallest type of loggerhead turtle found in the Adriatic was found in Javić Bay on the Croatian island of Korčula on 15 January.

Mini Koko, the smallest individual found in the Adriatic, weighing just 85 grams, arrived on Friday at the Sea Turtle Recovery Centre in Pula on Friday for necessary rehabilitation.

“Due to an injury to the left eye, the veterinarian from Split examined the young turtle and found that she desperately needed rehabilitation at the Centre,” the Pula Aquarium said.

“We are happy to inform that Mini Koko is making good progress, receiving antibiotics and saline, but is also eating small shrimp at home with our colleague Karin Gobić, who did not dare to leave him alone at the Centre over the weekend.”
