13 June 2019 – Former Croatia international and coach, Slaven Bilić, has been appointed manager of English Championship side West Bromwich Albion.

“I signed a two-year contract, which is what I wanted. I want to take WBA into the Premier League,” Bilić confirmed to 24sata on Thursday.

Bilić (50) returns to England after he sacked by West Ham in November 2017 and will be hoping he can help get WBA promoted to the top flight of English football after they came close last season.

WBA finished fourth this year in the Championship and were eliminated in the Premier League play-offs against Aston Villa. WBA’s most famous fan in Croatia is tennis star Goran Ivanišević who is from the same town as Bilić of Split.

The former defender’s last job was at Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad. Bilić has also coached Hajduk Split, Lokomotiv Moscow, Bešiktaš, and the Croatian national team.
